Why the name”Purple Olive”

100 Day Project Day 5

Growing up I was very close to my Grammie and her name is Olive. My Grandma K was an amazing women as well, but Grammie was the one I was closest too.

As a kid we ended up living at my Grammie and Poppa’s after my Dad’s accident. We lived in the basement but I spent a lot of time upstairs at their place. Grammie was an awesome cook and creative with knitting and crocheting. At a very young age I asked her to show me how to crochet. My mom loved knitting and she showed me how to knit, but now I wanted to crochet. I spent a long time at her side learning to crochet. I soon started making lots of things. Over the years I have made several table cloths, countless blankets and lots of baby items.

When I decided to start my own little side hustle for my crocheting there were several names being thrown around in the brainstorming stages. I kept going back to The Purple Olive. My favourite colour is Purple so that was easy enough, Olive after my grandmother.

The Original logo featured an Olive with a crochet hook in the centre.

After a while the “Vision” for my business took on a different path. I decided to add in more offerings. Such as Yoga, Reiki and Soul Art. So I decided to change the logo up. Which is now the one you see on this page. I chose an Olive tree as I wanted to leave room open for my business to expand and grow. Perhaps one day I will have a brick and mortar spot of my own. Oh that would be the dream come true.

Until then I am focusing on Empowering Women to self heal through Yoga, Reiki and Creativity. Lately I have been more focused on the creativity as I have been crocheting up a storm and I have been writing here.

One day we will have that Alpaca Farm. I am envisioning a space for not only a yoga studio, but a studio for my Soul Art and my Knitting and Crocheting stash. I have about 10 projects in various stages of completeness so I am making that a goal for 2022 to get all of those project completed before I buy any more. This I feel is every knitter and crocheters promise to themselves.. and its the one that is the biggest joke in these circles as it never ever happens for any of us!

Remember to always let your light shine for it could be a beacon to someone else in darkness.
