Reiki Restorative Yoga

Recently I have started a Reiki Restorative class at the studio I teach out of.

I haven’t had a lot of interest in the class but I am grateful for each and every one of the students who have come out to the class. I am grateful they took a chance and tried something new. Some literally having had no knowledge of what the class would be.

I was so nervous the first time teaching it. I hadn’t really had a lot of practice of doing Reiki healing before so I was not confident in my abilities. But I just took a deep breath and trusted my intuition and trusted in my training. I had questioned what was the “right” amount of hands on Reiki and what was the “right” amount of Beaming Reiki. From the feed back I got it seems I got it right.

Every time I think of “Beaming” Reiki I picture the “Care Bear Stare” . I loved watching the Care Bears when I was a kid. Saturday Morning Cartoons was my favourtie weekend activity. I loved when the Care Bears all lined up and did their Stare. I am on the look out now to get a tee shirt made up with the Stare so I can wear that while teaching.

Prior to COVID most people wanted active intense yoga sessions. Now I am seeing more of a shift towards Gentle, Slow and Meditative Yoga classes. I love this shift and I am grateful to be a part of it. As I have always told my students Yoga will always be a practice as we grow and change as a person the type of yoga we need will grow and shift and change as well. At the end of the day it is all about honouring your body where it is right now in this moment.

As we all come back to finding our balance and sorting out what the new normal is for us post COVID I hope more and more people will try out some new Classes.

Remember to always let your light shine for it could be a beacon to someone else in darkness.
